When the BMW X6 came into the market in 2009, a new segment was born. However, this segment didn’t started in other companies until 2013, when German company, Mercedes-Benz, revealed plans to develop a coupe-like crossover based on the M-Class. After that, when rumors of the Cayenne Coupe emerged, other companies started to pay more attention to this niche. Now, in this segment, Audi will present its new model, the 2017 Audi Q8.
2017 Audi Q8 Review
Audi technical chief Ulrich Hackenberg confirmed that the Q8 will come within the next three years.
Most informations about the new Audi Q8 are still unknown, since there is plenty of time for this model to see the dawn of the day, but there are few things that we can expect from this Audi model. It will come with quite enough engine variants, pretty luxurious interior and a brand-new design language.
The 2017 Audi Q8 is coming with a brand-new design language. It will be inspired by the Prologue concept, looking much more sportier and more emotional than the Q7. This model should come with sharper cues, thin headlamps, larger front grille and a coupe-like roof.
Marc Lichte, new Audi design boss, will be in charge of drawing the Q8. The sporty SUV will have an overall length of more than 5 meters (or 197 inches). The Q8 will be built on Volkswagen’s second-generation MLB platform.
2017 Audi Q8 Interior
The Q7 and Q8 seem to be very different as far as the design goes, but these two models will likely share the same technology in interior segment. Nonetheless, it can be expected that the Q8 will borrow most of its cabin from the A8 flagship sedan, including leather, Alcantara and aluminum inserts.
The 2017 Audi Q8 will receive a range of V-6 and V-8 engines, and they will probably be a 3.0-liter and 4.0-liter TFSI units, along with a 3.0-liter TDI. Plug-in hybrid versions will also become a part of this lineup.
The company hasn’t announced arrival of the Q8 yet, but according to some rumors, it will arrive within the next three years. The Q8 price should go from £50.000 in the UK (somewhere around 78.000 dollars). The main competitors to this model are: the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz MLC. It is too early for any conclusions, but it can be said that the good news about the Q8 are: brand-new design language, luxurious interior and vast engine options.
