The Audi A5 is basically the two-door version of the A4 and the S5 is the high performance version of the A5. While the previous versions were quite successful and all of them offered a lot of power, Audi is going to redefine their high performance S5 in order to make it more fuel efficient, better looking and even more technologically advanced than the previous version which has been launched back in 2011. The 2017 Audi S5 should be ready for its release some time in the late 2015 while the car is likely going to be shown to the public in the early 2016 as the 2017 Audi S5.
Unlike the previous version, this time it will use a brand new platform which it will going to share with the A4 as well as the A6. This new platform will make use of more aluminum and composites, so it should offer a lot more structural rigidity than before as well as a lower total weight which will help this sports car tremendously. The price at the time of its release is likely going to be around $55,000, a bit more than before but it should also offer a lot more.
2017 Audi S5 Engine
Engine wise, the old 3 liter supercharged V6 is likely going to remain unchanged which is a bit of a shame, especially when you take into account that the car was originally born with a V8. This time, the supercharged V6 will provide a bit more with an expected output of around 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. This should make it just as fast as the BMW competitor but it will not be nearly enough to make it just as fast as the ATS-V. However, this time the torque vectoring differentials will be standard which should allow the quattro all wheel drive system to offer a nearly perfectly balanced car, a really hard thing to do for an all wheel drive car like the S5.
The exterior will see the same changes as the other Audi models which have been revised for the 2016 model year. Most of these changes will come straight from the Audi Prologue concept car and it should include a new more angular grille, slimmer full LED headlights as well as a sharper general look. At the back the dual exhaust system will likely be moved slightly to the center and the car should also get an active spoiler on the trunk lid.
The interior of the 2017 Audi S5 will be very similar to that of the A5 with minor differences such as new Recaro front and rear seats, a new S-Design steering wheel as well as a similar equipment level to a top of the range model of the A5.
