We finally managed to catch the upcoming generation BMW 5-series unveiled. The spy photos reveal that the manufacturer isn’t actually breaking new ground at least when it comes to the styling of the 2017 BMW 5-series. The newcomer will definitely get a brand-new platform and wide range of engines. It will be made out of the lightweight materials for better body construction but also for better performance and fuel efficiency. 2017 BMW 5 Exterior Design
The new 2017 BMW 5-series will sit on the newly developed platform known as 35up modular platform that will also debut in the BMW’s 7-series. One of the main characteristics of the new architecture is that it is adjustable with number of models. It will also be quite lightweight. Some rumors claim that the new sedan version will be around 220 lbs lighter than the current model. The new model will sport new sleeker headlights that run into its chrome border. There will also be a broader and slimmer two-kidney grille. When it comes to the back of the vehicle, you can expect a pair of brand new taillights and revamped torso cover. There will also be a reshaped bumper. The car will get new side mirrors and side skirts. Thanks to these changes; the 2017 BMW 5-series will get a sportier look.
As far as the interior design of the 2017 BMW 5-series is concerned, the company keeps details about it under wraps but we sincerely hope that it will stick to the design language we have seen in the 7-series. If the rumors are true, the upcoming 5-series will get a new control panel and redesigned door panels as well. There is also a great possibility it will also get a brand-new infotainment system, but we will have to wait for a while before we get official information.
The 2017 BMW 5-series will be offered with several engine options including a 3.0 L in-line six engine, 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine, 4.0 L V8 twin-turbocharged drivetrain and V6 ICE. The 2017 B;W 5-series will be offered with a plug-in hybrid version as well and it will probably be a 2.0 L 4-cylinder engine which generates up to 240 hp beside 95 hp motor. A ZF 8-speed automatic will be a standard transmission, but there are some rumors that the company is thinking of introducing a 6-speed manual gearbox as well.
2017 BMW 5 Price and Release Date
The starting price for the 2017 BMW 5-series will be around $52.000. It will definitely go on sale next year.
