The California has just been updated a couple of years back with an all new engine and slight changes to its drivetrain but the base car remained the same as one released back in 2008. Not many people know that the car will actually receive a massive update with the 2017 Ferrari California which is going to be the first all new Ferrari in years and it will also be the first car to make part of the restructuring of Ferrari. It seems that the new model is actually going to be lighter, more powerful and better to drive and on top of that, it will be the car to get the all new corporate Ferrari look which is going to be passed on the other models shortly after.
2017 Ferrari California Price
It is unclear at this point when the car will be released but it may arrive in the fall of 2016 with the actual market availability starting some time in 2017. The price will be lowered by a significant margin which is not in Ferrari’s usual habit. This is because the new Ferrari California 2017 is also going to be offered with a lesser engine which it will use to compete with certain Porsche cars which are a lot cheaper than it. Many suggest a starting price of around $150,000 which would finally give a fighting weapon for the Carrera S.
2017 Ferrari California Specs
Under its hood, the current 3.9 liter twin-turbocharged V8 is actually going to be kept pretty much unchanged. It will only receive a minor boost in power to around 600 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque which should be enough to give it a top speed of over 200 MPH and a 0 to 60 MPH time of just 3 seconds. The all new base model on the other hand is likely going to receive a 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 which could provide around 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, or just as much as most of its competitors. Unlike the V8, this may also get a different lighter transmission.
Ferrari California 2017 Exterior And Interior
Just as we mentioned, the design of the 2017 Ferrari California will change dramatically over that of the current model and it will be the first Ferrari to get an all new look. The front end will be a lot more aggressive with a different set of headlights, a new grille and even a lower front splitter. At the back the car may receive a center mounted exhaust, different tail lights and a more aggressive profile. The roof will also get a new mechanism which will be a lot lighter than before and also quite a bit faster. The interior will see updates and the car may be the first to dismiss the multifunctional steering wheel in the favor of a more conventional approach.
