2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The current Grand Cherokee has been around since 2010 and despite the fact it is quite old now, it is the best selling Jeep to date as well as the best selling model wearing the SRT badge which has been a shock for both Dodge as well as Chrysler. In order to keep it a viable option for all of their customers, the Chrysler Corporation is going to update it once again with the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is not going to be an all new car as many hoped but it will be a very good upgrade which will get the crossover updated with all the newest technologies.

This also means that the platform will remain the same one which the Grand Cherokee inherited from the Mercedes ML. Even though it isn’t exactly state of the art, the platform is actually better than others offering great structural rigidity than usual but also a slightly higher weight.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

The new model of the Grand Cherokee is going to address that with more power available on most of its models. The release date for the 2017 car has been set at the end of 2016 when it should hit the market for around $30,000 for a base model. The high performance version is where most of the changes are going to take place because Jeep is going to dismiss the SRT badge in the favor of Dodge. Instead they are going to use two new names for their high performance models. Trailhawk will mean that the car is a high performance off-road machine while the Trackhawk models such as the new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be pretty much identical to the old SRT badged models but this time more engines are going to be available across the board.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine

In fact, the new 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee will receive an all new engine for its high performance Trackhack model despite the fact many thought it would never be available on it. That’s right, the monstrous 6.2 liter supercharged V8 from the Hellcat range of cars will also be available on some Jeep cars. This will make just as much power at 707 horsepower and more than 600 lb-ft of torque. The cars equipped with this engine will be rear wheel drive only and they will only come with the 8 speed automatic as standard. However, the models equipped with this engine are expected to cost well above $70,000 which is a lot of money. Most other models on the other hand will continue to be offered with the old engines with minor improvements in fuel consumption. In the near future, a 3 liter twin-turbocharged petrol V6 is also likely going to be available as a replacement for the old 5.7 liter V8 which is old and not that efficient when compared with the more modern powertrains.

2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The design of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee will not remain unchanged and it should be adapted so the car will better fit Jeep’s new car roster. It should borrow quite a few design elements from cars such as the Renegade or the upcoming Grand Wagoneer. The front end will be slightly boxier while at the back we should see new tail lights as well as a new exhaust system. The wheel designs are also going to be all new in order to refresh its looks even more.

Inside the cabin on the other hand all Jeep has to do in order to make the Grand Cherokee even more desirable than it is, it’s to offer more safety features as standard as well as more equipment for the top end models and considering their latest cars it is safe to assume that Jeep is going to do just that.
