The very first Mercedes Benz E class, was introduced in 1993. It was the first generation of the popular E-class and it was manufactured until 1995. It was offered in various styles, including four door Sedan, five door Station Wagon, two door Coupe and the two door Convertible. For the second generation, which was produced until 2003, and the third generation, which was produced until 2009, Mercedes decided to remove the Coupe and the Convertible from the market. The fourth generation reintroduced all four body styles. The E got its name from the word Einspritzmotor, which means fuel injection engine in German. Since 1995, five different generations emerged. The Stuttgart based automaker owes its success primarily for placing midsize luxury-sedans on the market, instead of big and high-priced roadsters. The all-new 2017 Mercedes Benz E Class is a part of the upcoming fifth generation that threatens to destroy the competition in home market, such as BMW and Audi, and also from around the world, such as Lexus and Cadillac. It will be displayed at the 2016 North American International Auto Show.
2017 Mercedes Benz E Class Exterior and Interior
The new 2017 Mercedes Benz E class exterior will resemble its smaller cousin the C-class, and also its larger cousin the S class. Looking at the front not much has changed but subtle differences are easily spotted. The headlights of the new model now feature different LED daytime lamp pattern compared to previous model where that pattern was split into two separate parts. The overall look of the front of the new model is slightly more muscular than before. The front bumper of the new model features larger air intake openings which now take most of the space on the bumper and it is now fused to form a single large opening, unlike the split openings on the previous model.
That subtle difference does make an impact on the overall look, making the car more aggressive than before. The grill of the new model now features a single chromium stripe stretched across the grill, compared to its predecessor which had two such stripes crossing the grill.
The beauty of this vehicle isn’t only about the outside, it is also elegant on the inside too. The new model will feature some of the state of the art technology such as the new Pre Safe function which includes side bolsters which helps passengers to stay away form an unavoidable side impact. Another feature is called Evasive Steering Assist, which will help driver in evasive steering maneuvers. Other features include Active Brake Assist, Car to X Communications and a Remote Paring Pilot.
2017 Mercedes Benz E Class Engine
Beneath the hood of the new 2017 Mercedes Benz E Class, three engine options will be available. The least powerful one will include a 2 liter turbocharged petrol engine, capable of delivering around 250 HP. The second engine option will be a 3 liter V6, outputting 350 HP. Both engines will be mated to a 9 speed transmission. The third option features a 4 liter twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine, outputting more than 550 HP, which more than enough for the competition like Audi RS6 and BMW M5 to be threatened. We can expect this baby to go from zero to 60 in about six and a half seconds. It is expected that this model will come with rear wheel drive, but all wheel drive option will probably be available, too. Platform wise, the new E will feature the MRA (Modular Rear Architecture) platform, which was first used as a base of the Mercedes Benz C Class model. The consequences of using this platform will include a drastic decrease in weight of the vehicle itself by smartly using aluminum. To be more accurate, this model will be 330 pounds lighter than its predecessor. The top speed this model is capable of producing is around 155 mph.
The expected starting price point of 2017 Mercedes Benz E Class will be around. $52,000.
